COMMUNITY PARTNERS & SUPPORTERS

The viability of our recycling centre is completely dependant on the support we receive from our local community, specifically Klipfontein, Bushmans, Marselle, Ekuphumleni, Merryhill, Kenton, and Kasouga, as well as a number of rural properties and game reserves. By ensuring you bring your recyclable materials to us, you are helping us to divert waste from the Alexandria landfill, and are also playing a crucial role in offsetting our high transport costs and maximising the volume of recyclable materials we handle.

The more material we receive, the greater our capacity to generate revenue, which gives us the best chance of paying our hard-working staff, covering our fuel costs and maintaining our equipment. Your involvement is vital in driving our mission forward and making a positive environmental impact to YOUR community.

Bushmans Recycling Centre is a private business, and we receive no regular government or municipal funding. While we are proud of the role our collection service has played in supporting local recycling efforts, it is no longer sustainable for us to continue providing a full service without being paid for it, as we have been doing for the last two years.

We would like to acknowledge and thank KOSRA for its continued monthly contribution to our fuel account, which will allow the trailer service* to continue visiting Kenton-on-Sea in a reduced capacity. This support from KOSRA reflects a recognition that community services require practical backing if they are to remain viable over the long term.

The continuation of recycling initiatives depends on shared responsibility between residents, businesses, community organisations and service providers. We remain committed to playing our part and appreciate the support of those who recognise the value of keeping recyclable material out of landfill and contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable community.

VOLUNTEER ORGANISATIONS

Our community is incredibly fortunate to be supported by a number of volunteer organisations, for whom we have huge admiration, from Coastal Kindness who provided our team with First Aid training, to Rotary and Siya Soup, from whom we receive all recyclable materials. The wonderful team at the Kariega Foundation, and the team who run the Kariega Volunteer Programme have become part of our family and we are immensely grateful to them for bringing their international volunteers to assist us with material processing.

THANKS & GRATITUDE

And, finally, we have a small group of people who work diligently behind the scenes supporting the recycling centre, in a number of different ways. Whilst a couple of individuals wish to remain anonymous, we would like to openly thank the following organisations for everything they continue to do, in support of our work.
